in researching the victorian era i found that oscar wilde's life, and the lives of everybody else were very similar to the play. Women are sterotyped in the play just how they were treated in thr victorian era. Some are smart and rich, civilized women. And others are young, inexperienced and pretty. Some are old and respected and some are young and still learning, like cecily.
The victorian men are treated the same in the play as they were also in the victorian era. Some are born into wealth and need nothing in life to succeed. Some are smart and witty, civilized wealthy men. And there are others who are not so wealthy, not so smart, and get themselves into problems throughout their lives.
